OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Salvation Army has been many things over the years as communities’ needs have changed over the years, but today, the focus of the Murfreesboro Salvation Army is to fight poverty and prevent homelessness in our community through a myriad of comprehensive programs designed to bring a holistic approach to the individual’s or family’s need.
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
THE SALVATION ARMY IN Murfreesboro
Founded in 1865 The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian denomination and a social services organization. We have been serving Rutherford and surrounding counties since 1994 at our Center of Hope Facility located at 1137 W West Main Street.
Our key programs offered to the community are:
Daily Community Meal, open every day at 5pm 365
Collaborative Supportive Housing for socially displaced individuals and families experiencing homelessness
Life Navigation Supportive Housing that focuses on the resourcing of the hope of individuals and families through the following strategies:
Engage with individuals with the provisions of Basic Human Needs
Empower individuals to design their story to achieve quality of life goals
Equipping individuals Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely goals.

Our Leadership
Majors Michael and Patrishia Knott
The Salvation Army of Murfreesboro is led by Majors Michael and Patrishia Knott. Captains Knott have three children, Ashley who is Attending St. George University in their Veterinary Medicine Program, Matthew just recently graduated with a Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree and working in Oklahoma, and Samantha, who attends Rockvale High School. Captains Knott are originally from Shawnee, Oklahoma. Before becoming ordained ministers in The Salvation Army, Patrishia is a CPA and worked for The Oklahoma City Art Museum as their Controller and The Absentee Shawnee Tribe as their internal auditor and Casino Controller, after many years in Public Accounting auditing non-profits, construction and banking entities. Michael has degrees in Music Performance and Music Education, as well as Funeral Service and Embalming. He has taught band at the Middle School and High School level as well as worked as a Funeral Director. In 2005, they went to Atlanta to The Salvation Army's College for Officer training (theological seminary) and graduated in 2007. They served four different appointments during their time in the Arkansas and Oklahoma Division of The Salvation Army. This is their first appointment in Tennessee and are excited they are here in Murfreesboro. Their roles encompass all administration responsibilities for the Army, social services, fundraising, board development, marketing, working with other community organizations and leading the church.
